AI+ In-House Counsel

Strategic Legal Support Powered by AI

Move the contract queue without compromising privilege.

Your contract queue moves faster than you can review it. Your regulatory environment spans jurisdictions you cannot monitor manually. The board wants to know what the legal function is doing about AI. This book gives in-house lawyers the COUNSEL Protocol for privilege-safe AI use, 38 copy-ready prompts across contracts, compliance, employment, governance, and disputes, and a 90-day adoption plan. Built by an AI engineering firm that works inside legal departments.

Who this is for

A qualified lawyer working in an in-house legal function — as General Counsel, Deputy GC, Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Counsel, or Company Secretary. May be the sole lawyer in the organisation or part of a small-to-medium in-house team (1–20 people). Works across a range of legal matters simultaneously: commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, employment law, corporate governance, intellectual property, data protection, and dispute management. Reports to the CEO or CFO rather than a senior partner. Accountable to the business for both legal quality and commercial pragmatism. Typically 5–20 years post-qualification experience.

Also for:Head of Legal Operations or Legal Operations Manager (applying AI to legal process improvement); in-house paralegals and legal assistants in corporate legal teams; Chief Compliance Officers with legal training; Company Secretaries handling governance work; corporate lawyers in private practice who advise in-house teams and want to understand AI from their client's perspective.

You’ll be able to
  • Identify at least eight recurring in-house legal tasks — across contract management, regulatory compliance, employment law, corporate governance, and dispute support — where AI can reduce time, improve consistency, or extend the legal team's reach
  • Apply structured prompting techniques (PRISM) to core in-house legal workflows: contract review, regulatory monitoring, policy drafting, board paper preparation, and outside counsel briefing
  • Evaluate AI-generated legal content for accuracy, legal risk, and appropriateness using the TRUST Framework with in-house-specific criteria — and recognise when AI output must not be relied upon without further verification
  • Apply the COUNSEL Protocol to protect legal professional privilege, maintain confidentiality, and meet professional conduct obligations before using AI with any legal matter information
  • Design a 90-day personal AI adoption plan and demonstrate measurable improvement in at least three recurring in-house legal workflows
